Intuit’s certification for the people who work in other people’s files. It is what lets me be added to your QuickBooks Online company as an accountant user, see what is actually in there, and fix it without you handing over your own login.
Contractors, not small business generally
Specialising is the whole point. Retainage, WIP, 1099 against W-2, comp class codes and a P&L that separates one job from another are problems that only come up in construction, and a bookkeeper who has never had to solve them has no reason to have learned them. How that works in practice.
I am not a CPA
This is worth saying in plain words rather than burying in a FAQ
I am a QuickBooks Online Certified ProAdvisor. I keep your books. Accounts reconciled, costs coded to the job, retainage where it belongs, 1099s tracked through the year, and a P&L that tells you which job made money.
A CPA files your return
A CPA also signs anything that needs a professional opinion: a reviewed or compiled financial statement, an audit, a letter a bonding agent or a lender will accept. That is their side of a licensing line, not a preference either of us gets to move.
The two jobs fit together
What I do makes the CPA’s work faster and cheaper, because nobody has to rebuild your year before they can file it. If something needs a CPA’s signature I say so at the time, and I work alongside them rather than around them.
What you get when you call
Me
There is no queue, no account manager and nobody learning your business on your time. That is the trade-off of working with one person: you get the person, and you also get her capacity. I will tell you if I do not have room rather than take the work and run late.

Are you a CPA?
No. I am a QuickBooks Online Certified ProAdvisor. I keep your books accurate and job-costed. Your CPA files the return and signs anything that needs an opinion. If something is on their side of the line, I tell you.
How long have you been doing this?
I have been working in QuickBooks since 2000. The software has changed a great deal in that time and the underlying job has not: code the work to the job it belongs to, every month, so the answer is sitting there when you need it.
Where are you based?
Tampa Bay, FL. The work is remote, so where you are does not change what you get or what it costs. Where I work.
Who will I actually be working with?
Me, every month. The same person who reviews your file, codes your jobs and answers the phone.
Do you only work with contractors?
Contractors are what I am built for, and where the work is specific enough to be worth specialising in. If you are in the trades, everything on this site is written for you.
